For the past 30 years, Citizen Action has honored individuals in our community who, with an active commitment to social justice and progressive values, go above and beyond the call of duty. These “unsung heroes” individually and collectively symbolize all that is just and good in the world.
This year we have chosen as our heroes and honorees:
Scott Corley, MA - Associate Professor of History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences at SUNY Broome, who has built bridges between the school and community through civic engagement events, including intergroup dialogue, and workshops about race and racism.
Mary Snyder - For her 70+ years fighting for peace and justice, including her recent arrest blocking drone sites at Hancock Air Force Base in Syracuse.
Dr. Denise Yull - Assistant Professor of Human Development in the College of Communication and Public Affairs, who has brought her talent and dedication to the community by tirelessly advocating for equity in school policies and working for fair education for all of our students, especially those living in poverty, and in communities of color in rural and urban school districts.
